When singer-songwriter Adele came on the scene, everyone loved how different yet familiar she sounded. That's because her music, while unique, also possessed a sound that reflected similar beats and vocal stylings to the 1960s. Since then, the singer has created even more music with homages to yesteryear, including her song, "Under the Bridge," which sounds more like it belongs to the 1980s than today's music.
She's not alone. Plenty of songs seem to nod back to the 80s, including many of Taylor Swift's 1989 album. Nostalgia is at an all-time high with 80s kids, from cartoon and movie remakes to old ads resurfacing again. It makes for cheap reduction, reusing and recycling in these industries but it also increases the chances of millennials, faced with a bleaker future than their parents, experiencing some kind of joy and with it, a willingness to shop.
These 80s throwbacks are comforting, aren't they, especially in an age where we're never sure if the words of our president on Twitter will send us into war or not. With all of these fun 80s beats available, which is your favorite? Which songs do you think have more of an 80s song than others?
